PROGRAMS FOR CONCRETE - ASPHALT - AGGREGATE AND SOIL

PROGRAMS FOR CONCRETE - ASPHALT - AGGREGATE AND SOIL PROGRAMS FOR CONCRETE - ASPHALT - AGGREGATE AND SOIL

CCIL/ACI basic technician certification exam Prep Course

CCIL Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification, Cat 0 .. (2 Day Course)

ACI CSA-Based Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I (Canada Only) 2 Day Course

ACI CSA-Based Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I (Canada Only) 2 Day Course

This course is a must  for concrete laboratories  that want technicians that produce valid test results as per CSA.

Certification programs only test the technician's ability to pass the written procedures exam and practical testing exams. This does not ensure that the technician can properly handle all the details of CSA tests.  This lack of knowledge can result in non-valid CSA test. Too often a technician is only shown how to preform the required CSA test, and studies only these test procedures.   CSA requires more knowledge, ie how to recognize a deviation from the standard and the subsequent consequences of that deviation.

So what's missing?  Technicians must report deviations as follows:

CSA A23.2-3C, section

11 Reporting

11.1 Required information

(r) any deviation from the test procedure.

Certification programs do not provide or test the technician's knowledge regarding what constitutes a deviation from the test procedure.  This course will cover this topic in great detail, along with information to prepare for writing the certification exams.

Other topics covered:

  • This review course will provide an overview of the field tests for testing ready-mixed concrete
  • Participants will review testing procedures and learn why they are critical in providing accurate and reliable testing results.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Outline requirements of the CCIL Concrete Field Testing Technician  Cat 0 program.
  2. Explain how to properly conduct field tests on freshly mixed concrete.
  3. Describe how proper procedures result in accurate and reliable results.
  4. Examine six CSA A23.2 test methods and best practices:

  • A23.2–1C Sampling plastic concrete
  • A23.2–3C Making and curing concrete compression and flexural test specimens
  • A23.2–4C Air content of plastic concrete by the pressure method
  • A23.2–5C Slump of concrete
  • A23.2–17C  Temperature of freshly mixed hydraulic cement concrete
  • A23.2-19C Slump flow of concrete
